Why you should never have too many tabs open?
The majority of my days are spent behind my laptop. On any given work day, you can find me jamming to my favorite Christian contemporary artist while creating content, scheduling social media posts, reviewing analytics, working on a client proposal, designing a website, reviewing paid social media campaigns, and so on.
On a pleasure day, I'm either eating something I will regret later when I have to work out or I'm on Netflix. And, in the moments when I can't seem to figure out the answer to a question I'm on Google. On a tough day, I can have up to 10 tabs open on my laptop. This doesn't include programs like Illustrator, Photoshop, and Spotify working in the background.
As a result, my laptop begins to runs slowwww...
I know we have all been there. Because our device of choice is taking longer to run, it takes more time for us to accomplish tasks. At this point, you have a few options.
- My go to Ctrl, Alt, Delete to access the task manager to see what's causing the device to run slow.
- Starting exiting out of programs.
- This is the one I used to do before I knew any better back in middle school. I would shut the entire device off by pressing the power button.
I believe we too are just like this. It's completely easy to have too many tabs open in our mind. We are concerned with things such as work, family, relationship, finances, student loans, lunch, dinner, our social life or "appearing to have one on Instagram" and the list goes on. As a result, our worries are taking a toll on our mind.
Why are we worrying so much? Why are our minds racing here and there? I believe it boils down to not fully trusting God like we should. It's easy to say cliché phrases such as: "God is the head of my life" or "I'm giving it all up to God". But, it's time to apply these phrases in our life.
Failure to "give it all up to God" actually pulls us away from Jesus. Jesus Christ is not a "you fix it all by yourself" type of God. He is a "come to me and give me your burdens because I want to help you" God.
It's time for you and me to close the tabs in our mind that are overwhelming us and give them completely to Jesus.
Now, I want you to think about all of the things keeping you up at night and all of the problems you have tried to solve for a while now without any resolution. Next, write your problems down on a list to help you get everything out of your head.
Heavenly Father, first I repent of all of my sins. Please forgive me for everything I said or done outside of your will. I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Lord please remove everyone and/or everything hindering me from developing a closer relationship with you. Please remove everything inside of me that's not like you and replace it with your spirit. Please bless my mind to fully commit my life to you the way you desire. And, help me to fall in love with you with my whole heart. In Jesus name, I pray amen.
