Will you make a new commitment to Jesus this Easter?

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, ‘It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.’
— John 19:30 KJV

The same enthusiasm we feel during the Christmas season should be felt even greater during Easter. The Son of God humbled Himself and willingly left His throne to redeem humanity. He wasn't forced or manipulated into doing it. He willingly left Heaven entered this perverse earth and took on an imperfect fleshly body to help mankind. The Son of God endured mental, spiritual, and physical attacks we would easily run away from, yet He had a goal in mind to complete the great assignment given to Him by His Father.

The part I'm in awe of is that you and I were nowhere to be found. Jesus loved us so much he cared about us even before we were conceived. His obedience to God left a long-lasting legacy impacting generations to come.

But, how are we showing our appreciation? Does attending Easter Sunday in our newly bought outfits, shoes, and flashy jewelry show how grateful we are? What about having our nails and hair done? None of this matters.

We show Jesus how much we thank Him by our life. If we go to church on Easter Sunday and the following week we are turned up in the club, we are slapping our savior in the face. If we say oh I love the Lord, He is the Head of our life but our lifestyle choices reflect sinful fleshly desires, we are piercing our Savior in His side again.

This Easter, let's show we are truly thankful by walking away from all sin that easily besets us. Don't play Russian roulette with your soul! Yes, Jesus did what God wanted Him to by going to the cross, but what about us? While we have breath in our bodies we must serve The Lord. Tomorrow is not promised. This Easter, let's all make a new commitment to living for Jesus and getting a closer walk with Him. Happy Resurrection Sunday!

He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said [He would]. Come1 See the place where He was lying.
— Matthew 28:6 AMP

Heavenly Father, first I repent of all of my sins. Please forgive me for everything I said or done outside of your will. I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Lord please remove everyone and/or everything hindering me from developing a closer relationship with you. Please remove everything inside of me that's not like you and replace it with your spirit. Please bless my mind to fully commit my life to you the way you desire. And, help me to fall in love with you with my whole heart. In Jesus name, I pray amen.
